Steps To Draw a Doughnut
You can either watch our video tutorial or follow the step-by-step guide below. Check out the brief demonstration in the image. Let’s go through the steps to draw a doughnut effortlessly.
Draw Rough References Lines
We’ll begin by sketching a rough rectangle line, as depicted in the image above. You can use a ruler to create this rectangle. Use a pencil to draw a reference line, so that we could erase it on further steps.
Draw Oval
Since a doughnut is oval in shape, draw an oval that intersects with the rough lines we created in step 1, as shown in the image above. Use the reference lines to draw it accurately.
Draw Doughnut Edge Curves
Now, draw a circle in the center of the oval, roughly as shown in the image above. Then, add two semicircles at the top and bottom to create a 3D effect, as depicted in the image. Additionally, draw a curved line below the rough small oval to complete the 3D appearance of the doughnut as shown in the image above.
Drawing a Cream
Since we’re drawing a chocolate-flavored doughnut, sketch some curves fairly to represent the chocolate toppings, as shown in the image above. You can use the rough reference lines as a guide to create these chocolate curves.
Drawing a Chocolate Curve Inside
For a more realistic 3D effect, draw a chocolate curve inside the small circle, just like in the image above.
Erase Rough Lines
Now, erase all the rough lines we drew earlier, as shown in the image above. However, leave some of the lines to give the doughnut a more refined appearance, as seen in the image above.
Draw Small Sprinkles
For the finishing touch, let’s draw small, closed curved ovals as the toppings or sprinkles on top of the chocolate doughnut, as shown in the image above.
Coloring a Doughnut
Once the doughnut drawing is complete, you can proceed with coloring. For coloring, we’ve selected some basic colors.
We’ll use dark brown for the chocolate part of the doughnut and light brown for the bread part of the doughnut. Different colors can be used for the toppings and sprinkles, and you also can fill the colors as you prefer.
Colour Details:
- Dark Brown
- Light Brown
- Green
- Red
- Blue
- Pink
- Yellow
After coloring, we get a realistic doughnut. You can use a pencil color (we made it digital).
